Treasurer (Volunteer Position) DuPage Art League

The DuPage Art League is seeking a Treasurer to play an important role in overseeing, managing and reporting on all aspects of the finances of the organization. The ideal candidate will have accounting and finance experience and a working knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel. An understanding of nonprofit accounting is helpful, but not necessary. This person must hold honesty and integrity in high esteem and be committed to accuracy, transparency and timeliness.
General
- Recommend financial policies
- Supervise bookkeeper (who prepares checks, enters deposits)
- Monitor credit card transactions and processes credit card refunds
- Submit the books for certified financial review or audit when necessary
- Responsible for Property/General Liability, Umbrella, Bond and Directors and Officers Insurance
- Prepare and present monthly financial reports to the Board
- Present a final report at the annual meeting covering year-end results
- Maintain bank relationships and update signatories when necessary
- On a monthly basis, reconcile bank accounts including credit card transactions
- Prepare and execute ACH (direct deposit) transactions
- Download and sort sales information to reconcile to settled credit card transactions
- Prepare journal entries as needed
- Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedule (Excel spreadsheet)
- Supervise bookkeeper who records all income and expenses in QuickBooks, prepares checks and gallery sale letters to artists
- Prepares Form 1099s
- Prepares and files federal Form 990 and Illinois Form AG990-IL
- Prepares and files annual report to the Illinois Attorney General
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic to intermediate level working knowledge of Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word and Powerpoint
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Business acumen and ability to identify and communicate inherent operating risks
