Description
A month-long celebration of the Jane Austen classic Pride and Prejudice kicks off on Sunday, October 6, with a presentation by Kim Wilson entitled In the Garden With Jane Austen. The presentation highlights 18th and 19th century gardening and the role which gardens played in the lives and love of Austen and her characters. Other presentations planned for the month include Tea Time with Chef Michael Maddox, an English Country Dance with music by Old Fezziwig’s Band, a program on the art of silhouette, and a visit with the author of Definitely Not Mr. Darcy, Karen Doornebos. A film fest features showings of various versions of Pride and Prejudice including the Bollywood production Bride and Prejudice. Book discussions are planned throughout the month in various locations. The grand finale takes place on Sunday, November 3, when Jane Austen Speaks is presented by Debra Miller. Copies of the book are available at the library’s Information Desk. All events are free. View details and the complete schedule at www.wheatonlibrary.org or call 630-868-7520.
