Description
Medical anthropologist and physician Paul Farmer will offer a lecture at Wheaton College titled "To Repair the World: Rebuilding Haiti." Dr. Farmer is the Kolokotrones University Professor in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He is the founding director of Partners in Health, an international non-profit organization that provides direct health care services and undertakes research and advocacy activities on behalf of those who are sick and living in poverty. Dr. Farmer has written extensively about health and human rights, and this lecture will be based on his most recent book "To Repair the World: Paul Farmer Speaks to the Next Generation" (University of California Press, 2013). This lecture is sponsored by the Center for Applied Christian Ethics, the Global and Experiential Learning department and the office of the Provost at Wheaton College.
