Description
Theologian and apologist Alister McGrath delivers the McIntyre Lecture in Philosophy and History of Science at Wheaton College, titled "Science, Faith, and the Meaning of Life."
In this lecture, McGrath will talk about his own journey from atheism to faith, including a reflection on how science and faith relate to each other, the limits of the scientific method, the framework that Christianity provides for making sense of science, and various debates about science and faith. He will also talk about the importance of having believing scientists within academic culture, and the difference they can make.
Dr. McGrath is Professor of Theology, Ministry and Education, and Head of the Centre for Theology, Religion and Culture at King's College, London. He also serves as President of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He is the author of numerous books about the rationality and relevance of the Christian faith, including his latest, Mere Apologetics: How to Help Seekers and Skeptics Find Faith (Baker Books, 2012). He has a long-standing interest in educational issues, and has developed a series of theological textbooks which are widely used throughout the world. He is currently working on two major new works about C.S. Lewis.
This lecture is sponsored by the Physics/Astronomy Department at Wheaton College.
