Description
First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton invites members of the community to attend a retreat on Saturday, February 26 from 9:30 a.m. ? 4:00 p.m. Before the retreat begins at 10:00 a.m. coffee and breakfast treats will be offered.
The theme for this year?s retreat is The Search for Meaning , Learning to Live Abundantly Even When Life Disappoints.
Although our individual paths of life may differ, it seems that there is one common experience we all face. For all of us, at times, life disappoints. Plans are interrupted. Dreams evaporate. At times like these, we can face a crisis of meaning for our lives. When this happens, we embark on an inner quest for meaning.
In this retreat, we will explore the search for meaning, and discover how resolving that search can be the key to finding abundant life. Combining the work of two pioneers of the human spirit, Holocaust survivor and psychologist Victor Frankl and Catholic theologian Henri Nouwen, we will discover important truths about finding meaning in life, and through that meaning, achieving fulfillment and abundance in life.
This retreat will be led by Dr. Paul J. Kirbas, Senior Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton. In addition to his role at First Presbyterian, Dr. Kirbas also serves as the Paul Tillich Professor of Theology and Culture at the Graduate Theological Foundation in South Bend, Indiana, and as an Adjunct Professor of Theology at Wheaton College.
To register for the retreat, call the church office at 630-668-5147 and submit your payment.
