Description
The feature film this year is "Reel Injun: On the trail of the Hollywood Indian", a documentary by Cree filmmaker Neil Diamond. The film explores the betrayal of Native peoples in the cinema. Including clips from John Wayne Movies, "Reel Injun" examines the way these images have shaped our understanding of Aboriginal peoples and how aboriginal filmmakers are retelling their own story.
Following the viewing, filmmaker Ernest Whiteman III (Northern Arapaho) will lead a discussion on Native Americans in film.
This free event is sponsored by the First Nations Film and Video Festival and Wheaton College's Office of Global and Experiential Learning and the Office of Multicultural Development.
