Illinois Opportunity Project: DuPage Non-Profit Lunch and Learn
When: September 23, 2015 at 11:30 a.m.

What: Round-table discussion lead by Illinois Opportunity Project panelists on how IL Turnaround policies can affect a non-profit organization; what non-profits can do in this political landscape; and planning, strategies and tactics for government advocacy.

- Illinois Opportunity Project Spokesman and Liberty Justice Center President, Pat Hughes
· To educate non-profit organizations in Illinois about how policy impacts their bottom line.
· To empower them to advocate for their best interests in state government.
· To partner with non-profit organizations, helping them to build awareness of policies moving through the General Assembly and their potential impact on their organization’s operations.
- To offer effective advocacy strategies and tactics to incorporate in Government Affairs planning
The Illinois Opportunity Project is committed to building strong partnerships with community and legislative leaders. As part of that mission, it is critical to engage non-profit organizations who are active in and responsive to their communities, and to ensure that they are able to function effectively and expand their work. Non-profits play an important role in ensuring that the needs of the people with in their communities are met with efficiency and compassion, as well as contributing to the culture and social mores in their respective regions.
Government impacts non-profit organizations in many of the same way it impacts business. Policy can affect non-profit in a number of ways, including cost of operation, expansion (zoning laws), and the ability of donors to contribute to the organization.
