Description
The J. Dennis Hastert Center for Economics, Government and Public Policy at Wheaton College hosts a conference June 16-19, titled "Economic Wisdom for the Church: Casting a Vision for Vocation." This free four-day conference is designed for pastors and their lay leaders.Through the presentation of sound economic and biblical principles, attendees will be equipped to communicate a strong vocational vision to their congregations. Session speakers include economic scholars, Christian business practitioners, theologians and fellow pastors. The keynote speaker is Tom Nelson, Senior Pastor at Christ Community Church in Leawood, Kansas. He is the author of "Work Matters: Connecting Sunday Worship to Monday Work" (Crossway, 2011). Conference highlights include built-in discussion times allowing fellow pastors to network and a visit to Chicago's Lawndale neighborhood to learn about their entrepreneurial enterprise projects and meet Wayne "coach" Gordon, founding Pastor of Lawndale Community Church. Additionally, attendees will receive a "tool kit" with cutting edge books selected to inform and enhance vocational vision.
