Description
Please join us for the second installment of our Community Concert Series at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 4, 2018. This presentation is a wonderful one-hour program of French music featuring the duo of flutist Joanne Diebold and pianist Paul Burgess. Many of the mechanical advancements of the modern-day flute were made by French flute makers. As a result, French composers were excited to explore the wild virtuosity of flute playing that came with these advanced instruments. In contrast, we still find the sublety of pure tone and and gorgeous melodies in all of these pieces. From the calm music of Debussy's Clair de lune to the wild passion of Franck's Sonata, this program will explore the musical and technical talents of both flutist and pianist.
