Description
Wheaton College welcomes Christian philosopher and author Nicholas Wolterstorff to campus. Dr. Wolterstorff will deliver a lecture with the same title as his most recent book "Journey Toward Justice." Dr. Wolterstorff is professor emeritus of philosophical theology at Yale University and a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia. He has served as president of the American Philosophical Association and of the Society of Christian Philosophers. He is the author of numerous books and will lecture on his recent publication "Journey Toward Justice" (Baker Academic, 2013). During the lecture Wolterstorff will share his experiences in South Africa, the Middle East, and Honduras which have shaped his views on justice through the years. Christianity's demographics, vitality, and influence have tipped markedly toward the global south and east. Addressing this seismic shift, he will talk about how deeply justice is embedded in Christian scripture and discuss the difficult struggle to right injustice. Co-sponsors of this event include Wheaton College's Center for Applied Christian Ethics, the Human Needs & Global Resources program, the Philosophy Department, the Politics & International Relations Department, the Center for Global & Experiential Learning and the Center for Urban Engagement.
