Description
The Center for Applied Christian Ethics at Wheaton College hosts a lecture titled "Defending America in the Age of Mass Incarceration" by Dawn Porter. Porter is an attorney, civil justice crusader and an award-winning documentary filmmaker. She will be speaking about her experience filming "Gideon's Army," a documentary about three public defenders on the front lines of a culture of mass incarceration. The film was nominated for an Emmy and won the 2014 Ridenhour Prize for documentary films. Porter will also share her insights into the criminal justice system from the unique vantage point of the accused and those who represent them.
