"Community Trees" Display at Cantigny
Description
The Robert R. McCormick Museum at Cantigny Park invites visitors to a special holiday attraction honoring Colonel McCormick’s philanthropic legacy.
Beginning Wednesday, November 25, the McCormick Museum will feature seven “Community Trees,” each decorated for Christmas by a different local nonprofit organization. The area charities were invited to participate because their missions involve issues or causes that were important to Robert McCormick during his career and life at Cantigny.
Tree Decorators for 2015:
- Friends of Wheaton Public Library
- DuPage County Historical Museum Association
- Illinois Prairie Path Corporation
- The GardenWorks Project
- Operation Care Package
- DuPage Convalescent Center Foundation
- Ray Graham Association
McCormick Museum hours in November and December are 10 am to 4 pm, Tuesday-Sunday, with visits by free guided tour. In addition, the museum will host a special Open House from 5 to 7 pm during Cantigny’s Celebrate the Season Holiday Festival on Saturday, December 5.
The museum is closed on Mondays, and closed November 26-27 and December 24-25. The Community Trees exhibit will end on December 30, the museum’s final day of 2015 operations.
Parking at Cantigny is $5 per vehicle (free for members). More information, including park hours, directions and a calendar of upcoming events is online at Cantigny.org.
