Description
The Christian Formation & Ministry (CFM) department at Wheaton College welcomes Dr. Simon Chan as the keynote speaker for this year's CFM symposium. Dr. Chan will deliver a lecture titled "Crossing Barriers in Global Ministry." Simon Chan, an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God of Singapore, is Earnest Lau Professor of Systematic Theology at Trinity Theological College in Singapore. His work in a regional ecumenical institution has taken him to many parts of Asia where the Christian faith finds expression in varied forms. It is from these encounters that he has sought to develop a theology and spirituality that takes seriously both Christianity's contextual expressions and the Great Tradition. Most of his writings including "Spiritual Theology: A Systematic Study of the Christian Life" (IVP Academic, 1998) and "Grassroots Asian Theology: Thinking the Faith from the Ground Up" (IVP Academic, 2014), are the result of more than 25 years of cross-cultural encounters.
