Marketing Manager

Founded in 1972, Literacy DuPage is a non-profit organization, whose mission is to provide one-to-one customized English language tutoring to local area adult learners, who have reached out for help in improving their comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Many of the learners are immigrants. Literacy DuPage trains volunteers to tutor adults throughout DuPage County to increase their fluency and to communicate successfully, leading to safer, more productive lives.

This opportunity is a part-time position under the direction of the Executive Director. The Marketing Manager develops and executes strategic outreach and marketing activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and implement an annual marketing and communications plan to cultivate brand awareness and attract tutors, learners, and donors.
  • Coordinate all marketing activities and social media.
  • Prepare and distribute PowerPoints, flyers, monthly newsletters, Constant Contact e-blasts, and other marketing materials.
  • Write and distribute press releases and PSAs. Manage media.
  •  Assist in the execution of the 50th anniversary marketing campaign.
  • Create and maintain content on the web site and write blog entries.
  • Coordinate and post volunteer outreach information on Volunteer Match, Giving DuPage,,, and other volunteer sites.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging on all marketing materials and social media posts.
  • Identify effectiveness and impact of marketing initiatives with tracking and analysis and optimize accordingly.
  • Interview tutors, learners, and agency benefactors to write occasional stories.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in marketing, preferably in a leadership position.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, accountability, and time management skills.
  • Project management and community outreach experience.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal guidance and with a team.
  • Computer skills including the following: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), e-mail management (Constant Contact), and graphic design program(s).
  • Strong social media proficiency, including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram. Manage Zoom and YouTube accounts.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet or beat project deadlines.
  • Overall ease with learning and adapting to new programs and technologies. 

Candidate must reside in the Chicagoland area. DuPage County resident preferred. Must be fully vaccinated.
Offices are housed at College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, IL. At this time, staff continues to work off site.
This opportunity is 15 to 25 flexible work hours per week at $22/hour. Occasional evenings/weekends required.
