The Sandy Hook Run for the Families will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, at Danada Forest Preserve, in Wheaton. It will be one of the “virtual” runs taking place across the country as part of the much larger Sandy Hook Run for the Families taking place in Connecticut on the same day. All proceeds benefit the Sandy Hook School Support Fund.
A team of Naperville moms, known as Naperville Runs for Sandy Hook, was looking for a way to help Sandy Hook families. When the race in Connecticut was announced, and virtual teams could be formed with the race run at any location around the world, the idea was born - Form a group of runners and walkers from the Chicago area and register as virtual runners for the Connecticut run. They've decided to open the virtual run to the entire community and are dedicated to raising funds for the families of Sandy Hook as they deal with the aftermath of the loss of their loved ones. There are several options to get involved. For those who wish to join the Naperville Runs for Sandy Hook team and run or walk at Danada Forest Preserve on March 23, at 8 a.m., follow the link below to the registration page of the Sandy Hook Run for the Families in Hartford. Registrants should make sure they register under Virtual Run-Join or Create A Team, then type in Naperville Runs for Sandy Hook to join the team. Registration fee is a non-refundable $25 and benefits the Sandy Hook School Support Fund.

One hundred percent of all donations benefit the Sandy Hook School Support Fund. The fund is administered by the United Way of Western Connecticut in partnership with Newtown Savings Bank.
