Wheaton College hosts the fifth Annual History of Christianity Lecture. Dr. Doug Sweeney will deliver this year's lecture titled "Recovering the Lost World of Jonathan Edwards' Exegesis." Dr. Sweeney is Professor and Chair of the Church History & History of Christian Thought Department at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is also director of the school's Jonathan Edwards Center. He has written numerous books and articles about religious history and the American theologian, Jonathan Edwards. In this History of Christianity Lecture, Dr. Sweeney will talk about the ways in which Jonathan Edwards' life was animated by Scripture, his chief preoccupation. He will also discuss the need to reconstruct the long-lost exegetical world of Edwards if we are to make good sense of him, his biblical frame of reference, and the things he took for granted about the nature of reality. This lecture is sponsored by the Biblical & Theological Studies Department M.A. History of Christianity Program at Wheaton College. A reception will follow the lecture.
