SUMMARY:Music in the Park
DESCRIPTION:If you're looking to explore new cities to catch upcoming artists\,\n\nWheaton might be next on your list. Two local non-profit\n\norganizations\, DuCAP (DuPage County Area Project) and Mercy\n\nHousing are teaming up to provide the community with an\n\nintimate summer kick-off event. WGN Radio executive producer\n\nand Sound Sessions host\, Michael Heidemann is the headlining\n\ntalent for the premiere launch of "Music in the Park" on Saturday\,\n\nJune 29 from 12:30-2:30 p.m.\n\nDuCAP's mission is to provide positive experiences for teens and\n\ntheir immediate families\, while teaching the community's youth\n\nthe resources needed to better themselves and the community\n\nthey live in. Heidemann is a veteran supporter of many charitable\n\norganizations in and around the Chicago suburbs\, so headlining\n\nthis event was a natural fit. Other local artists and residents will\n\nbe performing traditional songs from a variety of cultures in\n\naddition to acoustic and upbeat tunes. "We [Mercy Housing and\n\nDuCAP] wanted to bring the excitement of a live music fest to the\n\nsuburbs for those that typically don't have opportunities to\n\nattend. Music is a really powerful way to connect people\,"\n\nCommunity Events Developer\, Jess Raines says. This event is\n\nfree and open to the public\, but RSVP is required by 6/25 to\n\nDeLena.Byanski@mercyhousing.org.\n\nHeidemann's newest project is "Brews and Bands\," a show that\n\nfeatures Chicago icons as they dive into their musical background\n\nand favorite venues.
