DESCRIPTION:The work of artist Joel Sheesley\, titled "Self Portrait/Personal Apocalypse" will be on display May 9 through June 8 in Adams Hall at Wheaton College. The portraits span Sheesley's work over 40 years.\n\n\n\nProfessor Sheesley has taught drawing\, painting and printing at Wheaton College since 1974. His paintings typically address the human connection to place and culture and are known for their realistic representation of everyday suburban life. His artwork has been exhibited in galleries in New York\, Pennsylvania\, Indiana\, Michigan\, and throughout Illinois. Sheesley received Wheaton's Senior Scholar Achievement Award in 2000 and an Illinois Artist Fellowship Grant in 2002.\n\n\n\nThe exhibit of self-portraits will be displayed in the Hansen Main and Small Galleries located on the first floor of Adams Hall. A reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday\, May 9. Adams Hall is located in the center of campus\, north of Blanchard Hall\, at 501 College Avenue in Wheaton.
