SUMMARY:Gun Violence Forum - Conversations that Matter
DESCRIPTION:Join us in a conversation on social and political aspects of gun violence and on language and images used in messages about gun violence. There were close to 40\,000 gun-related deaths in the United States\, more than in all the other advanced\, industrialized democracies of the world combined. The debate about guns is one of the most pressing and divisive of our time. Addressing the capacity and potential for violence is imperative\, and we need to find ways to do so with honesty and a shared sense of responsibility. Dr. Steve Macek\, Professor of Communication and Chair of the Department of Communication and Media Studies at North Central College and Dr. Stephen Maynard Caliendo\, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Political Science at North Central College will facilitate this discussion.\n\n\n\nTo help us plan for the event\, please RSVP through our Eventbrite site.
