DESCRIPTION:With surgeries resuming and donations down due to the current crisis\, donors are needed and we want to help! It is critically important that healthy individuals continue to donate to minimize disruptions to ensure blood is available for patients.\n\n\n\nSign up for our blood drive and take the first step! Photo ID is required. Please sign up for a time slot if this is a way you can help the community. Donations will stay with our local hospitals.    *** \n\n\n\nWho can donate?\n\n\n\nGENERAL\n\nThe donor must be in good health and feeling well.\n\n\n\nAGE\n\nAt least 17 years of age. 16 year olds are eligible provided they have written approval from a parent/guardian.\n\n\n\nWEIGHT\n\n110 pounds or more.\n\n\n\nDIET\n\nIt is recommended to eat something within the four hours prior to the donation.\n\n\n\nCOLD OR FLU\n\nFever\, persistent cough\, sore throat or chest congestion disqualifies a donor.\n\n\n\nINTERVAL BETWEEN BLOOD DONATIONS\n\nMust be eight (8) weeks between regular whole blood donations. Waiting period must be sixteen (16) weeks after double red cell apheresis: seven (7) days after platelet apheresis.\n\n\n\nMEDICATIONS\n\nDonors taking medications may be deferred from donating due to their underlying medical condition. Check with the Heartland staff for acceptability.\n\n\n\nTRAVEL OUTSIDE THE U.S.\n\nTravel to certain parts of the world may be cause for deferral.
