SUMMARY:Backpack Drive & Ice Cream Social
DESCRIPTION:For most children\, the beginning of a new school year means new clothes\, new shoes or a new backpack filled with fresh supplies. But for many other disadvantaged kids in District 200\, it means beginning the school year without the necessary items most of us take for granted. Nearly 25 percent of District 200 families find it difficult to provide a backpack and school supplies for their children. Donate supplies and/or attend the ice cream social to help disadvantaged families. All proceeds go towards school supplies.\n\n\n	\n\n	As a Chamber Member you can:\n\n	\n\n	1. Backpacks and School Supplies\n\n	    Bring items from the School Supply List to a drop box.\n\n	\n\n	2. Host a Drop Box\n\n	    Make space for a drop box near your business?s \n\n	    entrance.\n\n	\n\n	3. Sponsor the Ice Cream Social\n\n	    Show community support and reach local families. There\n\n	    will be a Back to School Ice Cream Social on Thursday\, \n\n	    August 16th from 4 to 6pm at Whittier Elementary to raise \n\n	    donations.\n\n	\n\n	School Supply List\n\n	  Large backpacks\n\n	  Trapper keepers\n\n	  Pens & pencils\n\n	  Pocket folders\n\n	  Paper\n\n	  Spiral notebooks\n\n	  Flash drives\n\n	  Calculators\n\n	\n\n	Items must be NEW\n\n	Cash donations are accepted too. Please make donations payable to the Wheaton Chamber. These funds will be used to purchase school supplies at a discounted rate from a local vendor.\n\n	\n\n	Thank you to our sponsors:
