SUMMARY:3rd Annual Go Fly a Kite
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, April 17\, 2011\, the Wheaton Park District and area residents will attempt to break last year?s record of 843 kites in the air simultaneously at the 3rd Annual Go Fly a Kite event! The event will take place at Graf Park\, 1855 Manchester Road in Wheaton. Registration begins at 11am. Free kite making will take place from at 11am to 12:30pm. The amazing Grand Launch will commence at 12:30pm. Demonstrations by the Chicago Fire Kite Team and professional kite flyers will take place at 1pm and 2pm. Kite games for the kids will begin at 1:30pm. Registration forms can be downloaded off the Wheaton Park District?s web site at www.wheatonparkdistrict.com.  This is a FREE event!!   A variety of community vendors will be present and the park?s concession stand will be open.   Kites (starting at $6.95) and commemorative t-shirts (for $7) will be available for purchase. \n\n\n\nThe Chicago Fire Kite Team will be coming to the event to perform a demonstration as well as coordinate a number of fun kite flying activities for the participants. A video of one of their demonstrations can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5J5X2dKmr0.  \n\n\n\nLast April\, participants attempted to break the previous year?s record of 800 kites flown simultaneously\, and we did it! 843 kites were set aloft that day.
